You need to run the commands below to update the Pi-hole software.<\/p>\n<p>If you are running your Pi-hole as a truly self-contained DNS resolver via Unbound, make sure to update your\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/blacklab.net\/set-up-pi-hole-as-truly-self-contained-dns-resolver\/#piholeupdate\"><span style=\"font-family: monospace, monospace; background-color: initial; font-size: 1.6rem;\">\/etc\/dnsmasq.d\/01-pihole.conf file<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>The command below will show you the version your Pi-hole is running<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:preformatted --><\/p>\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">sudo pihole -v<\/pre>\n<p><!-- \/wp:preformatted --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>The command below will upgrade your Pi-hole to the latest version<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:preformatted --><\/p>\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">sudo pihole -up<\/pre>\n<p><!-- \/wp:preformatted --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Generally speaking, doing this regularly will keep your installation up to date for the particular major Raspberry Pi OS release you are using (e.g. Stretch).
